mana wahine

START Taranaki now cater for Wahine with our Mana Wahine programme, funded by the Toi Foundation.

Our tailor made interventions are for wahine from the Taranaki community who have low level offending or are at risk of offending, and offer a range of different mentoring options. We have the capacity to mentor wahine for up to a year to ensure we provide as much wraparound support as possible, including engagement with whanau and other professional services working with your wahine.

Referrals can be made at any time by any individual at which time we will contact you to arrange an interview to assess suitability / capacity. If your referral is accepted, there are two isolation intakes per year in January and June where your wahine will spend 2-weeks staying with us for an outdoors experience. If your wahine begins her mentoring after January or June, their isolation will take place at the next available intake (eg. if engagement begins in February, she will begin her mentoring and attend the June outdoors intake).

We have a passionate and driven team in the early intervention space who are dedicated to providing the best experience for all rangatahi engaged with START Taranaki.
