START Taranaki junior youth working cadetship

S.T.A.R.T. Taranaki, with the support of Lysaght-Watt Trust are excited to provide a 3 week intensive cadetship for people aged 18-25 from the South Taranaki District interested in Youth Work, Social Services and Social Justice.

The successful applicant will work as a junior youth worker/intern, rostered over a three week period on the START Early (Early Intervention) Programme.

As part of the package the successful applicant will receive:

  • Fees paid for national certificate in Youth Work – Level 3
  • Tramping boots
  • Gaiters
  • Bush clothes
  • Tramping pack
  • Sleeping bag
  • Bivi bag
  • Tent

Three weeks of paid employment (minimum wage)

S.T.A.R.T. Taranaki staff will instruct and mark papers towards the level 3 Youth Work papers. Ongoing assistance will be provided until completion. 

Feedback from experienced youth workers on strengths and areas of their practice requiring development / formal performance review
